Who are we?

We as members of the Deacons’ Ministry of First Baptist Church Morrison are servants of God; ordained helpers in the church and church leaders who are responsible to minister the gospel and assist believers and unbelievers.

What do we do?

·      Assist the Pastor in promoting the spiritual growth of the Church in conducting and scheduling of religious services and in administering of the Church ordinances.

·      Demonstrate Christ-like consecration, loyalty, prayer support and faithfulness to our local church.

·       Facilitate acceptance of prospective Church Members.

·      Visit the sick and shut-ins and otherwise distressed members of the church.

·      Be watchful guardians of purity and good order of the Church in conjunction with the Pastor.

·      Monitor the Church Rostrum; maintain vigilance over the congregation and alert the Pastor when problems exist.

·       Encourage and strengthen new converts and the spiritually weak.

How are Deacons’ Ministry Members Selected?

Deacon's are generally nominated or recommended by other deacon ministry members and the Pastor. This recommendation is presented to the congregation and voted on. At that time, there are several classes held and new Deacon's are accompanied by veteran Deacon's to make them familiar with their duties. Deacon's are then ordained by the church and continue to perform their duties.
