~Helping Believers Grow in Christ~

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MINISTRY
Membership is a representative of the church body. The Christian Education Ministry is responsible for the organization and administration of the education program of the church. A chairperson is elected annually. The work of the ministry covers the following areas; children, youth, young adults, adult leadership development, education for missions, athletic, recreation, library, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and other classes, workshops and special programs.

The administration and coordination of Christian education programs and strategies to make possible the spiritual growth and discipleship of members and guests into Christ-likeness. While the Directors of Christian Education certainly can help provide pivotal leadership, it takes many people working at different levels and in different capacities do the work of the Great Commission.  With the support of the Pastor and other church leadership, we seek the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in an on-going process of the evangelization of unsaved people, and discipling the saved.

Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things. Matthew 28:19-20

Sunday School, a place of Evangelism and Discipleship, a place where the Bible is taught and where the lost may come to a "saving knowledge" of Christ and be ministered to. Our Sunday School provides the best possible setting for reaching people, as they meet in small groups that make the task of getting to know people easier. It is the Sunday School program that has been tasked with maturing the new believer and the veteran believer alike.  The Sunday School of First Baptist Church Morrison main goals include:
*  Reaching, teaching, and training every man, woman, and child for Jesus utilizing the power of the Holy Spirit in revealing God's Holy Word.
*  Reaching the lost, and leading them into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
*  Reaching out to the community with the goal of churching the un-churched.
*  Ministering to people's needs.

Vacation Bible School
1 Week during the Summer
Deacon Edith Turner, eydiered1@aol.com

Our vacation Bible School is an exciting, interactive weeklong summer program for preschool aged children through adults.  We strive to present lessons that our students won't soon forget. Children and adults alike will meet and make new friends and discover that God's love can be found everywhere, including their own neighborhoods. Vacation Bible School allows more time to teach about the Bible and to gives a chance for those who do not go to Sunday School to learn about the Christian faith.  More often there is one Bible story featured each day. You will find that there may be exciting stories about Moses and the Israelites, The Fruit of The Spirit or even the Creation of the World. More often, there are stories about the life of Jesus, his death and resurrection. One year we even celebrated “Christmas In July” complete with trees and trimmings. Often, the Bible stories will lead up to explaining the basic Christian beliefs, such as:
•   Gods creation and his love for us
•   The separation of people from God by their sin.
•   Jesus birth and his death on the Cross.
•   Jesus’ rising from the grave and his place with God in heaven.
•   The Holy Spirit that lives in the hearts of believers and its power to resist sin.
•   How we become Christians by believing in Jesus as our savior, and asking Him to come into our hearts and redeem us from sin.
•   How we, as followers of Christ show our love to others by loving God and obeying God’s Word
